Annual Neuroscience Retreat
All graduate students, training faculty members of the USC Neuroscience Graduate Program (NGP), as well as graduate students from other programs training in NGP training faculty laboratories, are invited to attend the annual NGP retreat held this year at the splendid UCLA Lake Arrowhead Conference Center in Lake Arrowhead, CA, from Friday, September 27th to Sunday, September 29th.
Speakers at this year’s retreat include:
Dr. Joseph Takahashi is the Loyd B. Sands Distinguished Chair in Neuroscience at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, an Investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and a member of the National Academy of Sciences. His research group discovered the genetic basis for the mammalian circadian clock and subsequently identified the Clock gene. The title of his seminar is “Genetics and Molecular Neurobiology of Circadian Clocks in Mammals’.
Dr. Michael Kilgard is an Associate Professor at the University of Texas at Dallas. He is at the forefront of efforts to translate cholinergic modulation of cortical plasticity into therapeutic interventions to treat several neurologic disorders including tinnitus. The title of his talk is ‘Directing Cortical Plasticity to Understand and Treat Neurological Disease’.
