Fecal Transplants from Older Mice Significantly Improve Ovarian Function and Fertility in Younger Mice

A new study by NGP Faculty Bérénice Benayoun details how fecal transplants from older female mice significantly improve ovarian function and fertility in young mice. The surprising results reveal a direct link between the microbiome (the collection of all bacteria and other microbes present) of the gut and ovarian health and function.

The surprising findings shed light on the little-known relationship between the microbiome and the reproductive system. Greater understanding could lead to better treatment options not only for fertility but also for overall health as women age. (Illustration by Rapheal Williams, Benayoun Laboratory)
