Biography
Ruth Wood has served as NGP Director since 2023. She is Professor of Integrative Anatomical Sciences in the Keck School of Medicine of USC. Dr. Wood’s research is in behavioral neuroendocrinology, the study of how hormones act in the brain to control behavior. She investigates the neurobiology of social and cognitive behavior in rodent models, and how gonadal steroid hormones act in the brain, during development and in the adult, to effect sex differences and modify behavior. Dr. Wood’s research has been funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the National Institute of Mental Health. She has authored over 100 publications and journal articles. At the Keck School, Dr. Wood teaches histology to medical students, and serves as Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs.
